PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES IN TEXTILES? |
- Preparation
of thousands of written technical reports on all aspects of
textile and garment problems as a Consulting Chartered Textile
Technologist.
- Membership of
the International Fabricare Institute (IFI) in the United States
with access to all their published technical material including
the 'TABS' series of technical bulletins that give excellent
summaries of typical textile and garment problems associated with
textile care procedures
- Honorary
Technical Officer of the Queensland Branch of the Drycleaning
Institute of Australia.
- Past Membership
of both the Australian Standards Textile Testing Technical Committee
TX/20 and the Australian Standards Textile Labelling Technical
Committee CS/4.
- Assessor of Textile Laboratories for
National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) – the Australian laboratory accreditation
system.

WHAT IS STEVE'S
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AS A TEXTILE EDUCATOR? |
|
Thirty
years
experience in higher education institutions, teaching
Textile Sciences subjects for Home Economics
undergraduate courses in both the UK and Australia.
Establishment of the
textile testing laboratories in 1983 what is now the Kelvin
Grove Campus of the Queensland University of Technology when it was
originally the Kelvin Grove CAE in 1983.
- Developing and
teaching the textile science and technology units for the B.Ed and
B.Appl.Sci courses in Home Economics at QUT Kelvin Grove full time from
1981 until 1992 and part time until 2002.
- Developing and co-ordinating
a part time Associate Diploma Course in Textiles designed for the staff
in the garment manufacturing industries, while at QUT Kelvin Grove, and
teaching its textile science and technology units.
- Steve has lectured as
a guest at TAFE institutions for students undertaking clothing and
fashion courses.
- Steve has offered
short courses in Textile Fundamentals/Textile Problem Analysis for the clothing industry,
wholesale/retail industries and the textile care industry.
